After photographing more than 600 weddings, I've noticed something.
Years later, couples rarely pull out their wedding gallery and talk about the perfectly posed portraits first. They talk about the way Dad looked at them before walking down the aisle. The hug from Grandma after the ceremony. The flower girl dancing when nobody was watching. The quiet moment they finally had together after the whirlwind of the day.
Those are the photographs that matter most.
They're the moments I find myself looking for every time I pick up my camera.
Hi, I'm Kristina, and for more than fourteen years I've had the privilege of documenting weddings, growing families, and life's biggest milestones throughout Cincinnati and beyond. While beautiful photographs are certainly the goal, I believe the experience of creating them is just as important.
If you leave your wedding or portrait session feeling relaxed, cared for, and fully present in the moment, I know I've done my job.
My Story
I've always been drawn to photography. Even as a kid, I was the one carrying a camera around, looking for little moments worth remembering. In college, I spent countless hours shooting film and working in the darkroom. There was something incredibly rewarding about watching an image slowly appear on a blank sheet of paper. It felt a little like magic then, and honestly, it still does today.
After earning my Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art from Wittenberg University, I founded K Herman Photography in 2013. I didn't have a grand business plan. I simply wanted to create beautiful photographs while treating people the way I would want to be treated.
That idea has guided every decision I've made since.
Over the years, K Herman Photography has grown from one photographer into an incredible team serving couples and families across Cincinnati, but our mission has never changed. We believe that great photography begins long before anyone steps in front of the camera. It starts with communication, preparation, kindness, and creating an experience where people feel comfortable enough to simply be themselves.
Because that's when the best photographs happen.
What More Than 600 Weddings Have Taught Me
My very first wedding was at Pattison Lodge.
Like every new photographer, I was focused on getting every important photograph and making sure nothing was missed. By the end of the day, I realized something that completely changed the way I approach weddings.
One photographer simply can't see everything.
While you're photographing the bride walking down the aisle, you're missing the groom's reaction. While you're focused on family portraits, guests are laughing together during cocktail hour. Beautiful moments are happening everywhere, all at once.
That first wedding taught me the value of having a second photographer, and it's one of the reasons K Herman Photography has always believed in a team approach for our larger wedding collections. It isn't about delivering more photographs. It's about telling a more complete story.
That lesson has stayed with me for more than 600 weddings, and it's still one of the best things I've ever learned.
Kristina's Pro Tip:
One of the best things you can do on your wedding day is give yourselves five quiet minutes together after the ceremony. Those few moments are often the first chance you'll have to slow down, take a deep breath, and soak it all in. Some of my favorite photographs happen during those five minutes because the emotions are completely genuine.
More Than Your Photographer
One of the greatest compliments I receive isn't about my photography.
It's when someone says, "You made us feel so comfortable."
Almost everyone tells me they're awkward in front of the camera. The truth is, very few people spend their weekends modeling, and I certainly don't expect them to.
My job isn't to make you pose perfectly. It's to create an environment where you stop thinking about the camera altogether.
I'll guide you when you need direction, keep things moving naturally, and let genuine moments happen when they want to happen. Sometimes that means making you laugh. Sometimes it means stepping back and quietly documenting what's already unfolding.
On a wedding day, my job often extends far beyond photography. I might be bustling a dress, pinning a boutonniere, helping organize family portraits, working alongside your planner, or reminding you to pause for just a minute and take it all in.
My couples hear me say one phrase a lot:
"I've got you."
Because if you're relaxed, everything else has a way of falling into place.

Building a Team I Believe In
As K Herman Photography continued to grow, I reached a point where I had a choice to make.
I could continue photographing every wedding myself, or I could build a team that shared the same values and allow us to serve even more wonderful couples.
There are only so many Saturdays in a year, and I can't be in two places at once.
Building a team wasn't about stepping away from photography. It was about creating something that could continue serving families with the same level of care and consistency that has always been at the heart of this company.
Today, every photographer on our team has been personally selected and mentored to represent K Herman Photography with professionalism, kindness, and genuine care for every client. Whether I'm behind the camera myself or one of our incredible lead photographers is documenting your day, you can expect the same thoughtful experience that has defined KHP from the very beginning.
Looking ahead, I also love knowing that someday I'll be able to spend a few more weekends traveling with my husband, Alex, exploring another national park or hiking with our dogs, while the company we've built continues serving couples with the same heart and attention to detail that started it all.
A Few Things About Me
When I'm not photographing weddings or editing galleries, you'll usually find me planning our next adventure with Alex. We love traveling together and have made it a goal to visit as many of our country's national parks as we can. Hiking, spending time outdoors, and relaxing with our dogs are some of my favorite ways to recharge after a busy wedding season.
I think that's part of why photography has always meant so much to me. It reminds us to slow down, pay attention, and appreciate moments that might otherwise pass us by.

Why did you become a photographer?

I founded K Herman Photography in 2013, and since then I've photographed more than 600 weddings and thousands of portrait sessions throughout Cincinnati and beyond. Every wedding, every family, and every senior has taught me something new. Experience has given me confidence, but it has also reminded me that every client deserves the same excitement, preparation, and attention to detail as my very first one.
What has photographing more than 600 weddings taught you?
More than anything, it's taught me that the moments people treasure most are rarely the ones they planned. They're the quick hug from a grandparent, the tears a parent tries to hide, or the laughter that happens between poses. Those moments only last a second, and experience has taught me how to anticipate them before they happen. It's also taught me to stay calm, be flexible, and remember that while weddings rarely go exactly according to plan, they're still going to be beautif
How would your clients describe you?
If you asked my clients, I think you'd hear the same words over and over again: calm, organized, kind, and reassuring. One of the greatest compliments I receive is, "You made us feel so comfortable." That means more to me than compliments about my photography because when people feel relaxed and cared for, their personalities naturally shine through. That's when the best photographs happen.
What is your photography style?
My style is timeless, true-to-color, and centered around genuine emotion. I want your photographs to feel just as beautiful twenty years from now as they do today. I love natural light, authentic interactions, and images that tell the story of your day without feeling overly posed or trendy. My goal has never been to follow photography trends. It's to create photographs you'll never grow tired of looking at.
Do you photograph every wedding yourself?
I still photograph weddings throughout the year, but as K Herman Photography has grown, so has our team. Building a team allowed us to serve more wonderful couples while maintaining the same level of care and quality our clients have come to expect. Every photographer on our team has been personally selected, trained, and mentored to uphold the standards K Herman Photography was built on. Whether I'm personally photographing your wedding or one of our talented lead photographers is behind the camera, you can expect the same thoughtful experience, beautiful imagery, and attention to detail.
Why do you always recommend having two photographers?
The answer goes back to my very first wedding. I quickly realized there was simply too much happening for one person to capture it all. While one photographer is focused on the bride walking down the aisle, the other can capture the groom's reaction. While family portraits are taking place, someone else may notice grandparents sharing a quiet conversation or guests laughing during cocktail hour. Two photographers allow us to tell a more complete story and preserve moments that might otherwise be missed.
What is your favorite part of a wedding day?
That's an easy one. I love the quiet moments right before the ceremony. There's so much anticipation, excitement, and emotion packed into those few minutes. I love watching a bride surrounded by her closest friends, seeing parents take a deep breath, or catching a groom's expression before anyone else notices. Those moments are incredibly genuine, and they often become some of my favorite photographs from the entire day.
What do you enjoy when you're not photographing?
When I'm not behind the camera, you'll usually find me traveling with my husband, Alex. We're working our way through as many national parks as we can, and I love any excuse to get outside and explore somewhere new. At home, life is much quieter. Spending time with our dogs, hiking, and enjoying simple weekends together is the perfect balance to a busy wedding season.
What makes K Herman Photography different?
I truly believe it's the experience. Beautiful photographs are important, but so is the way you feel while they're being created. From your first email to your final gallery, we want you to feel cared for, prepared, and completely at ease. We spend just as much time helping with timelines, answering questions, and making sure every detail is in place as we do taking photographs. Our goal has always been to create an experience that's as memorable as the images themselves, and I believe that's why so many of our clients return to us year after year as their families continue to grow.
What do you hope your clients remember years from now?
Of course I hope they love their photographs, but I also hope they remember how they felt. I hope they remember feeling relaxed instead of rushed, supported instead of stressed, and able to truly enjoy one of the most meaningful days of their lives. If they look back years later and remember both the photographs and the experience of creating them, then I know I've done my job.
